Who Needs Permits?

We shot in a beautiful cafe in West Hollywood today. Without permits, permission, or any kind of insurance. I mean, I'm using an iPhone and a digital recorder with one cast member and one crew person for a total production of two. That's not really cause for concern in the film industry...

It went very quickly, and we were lucky to get the good table with the good light in a low traffic area that was outside, but away from the noise of the street. The digital recorder is very sensitive, so it picked up more of the restaurant noise than I would have wanted, but much of that should be fixable in SoundBooth. If it's not, I can always weave in the audio from the iPhone when the ruckus of the restaurant gets too terrible.

Franzi is a true gem to work with. She's professional, prepared, dedicated, and willing to keep going until the take is perfect. I was incredibly pleased with her performance and the movie is really lucky to have her in the cast. She's leaving for Germany in a few days (for several months, possibly forever) so it's a good thing we grabbed her scenes when we did! Always nice when schedules work out...
